1a) Catherine is very close to her father, that is why she cares for him a lot. When she knows her father is not well she worries a lot about him and she also takes responsibility to take care of her father well without being so selfish like her sister.
1b) Catherine don't have good terms with her sister because she don't like her sister's character where she is too materialistic and doesn't even care for her family eventhough her sister knows that their father is not well.
2) Catherine is a strong character because she never give up if she really knows that she is not wrong. When she feels something is going wrong, she starts arguing until she is satisfied. Another reason is she takes care of her father alone without relying on anyone for help.
