MORE ON ORGAN DONATION

All of us have heard before about organ donation.Have we ever asked ourselves what we actually know about organ donation? I have the answer for this question.
Organ donation is not something new to us, it is known as donating organs to the needy for the past so many years. Before I start off more detailly, I would like to share on what means by organ donation actually.

Organ donation is the removal of the tissue of the human body from a person who had recently died or a living donor, for the purpose of transplanting.Organ and tissues are removed by surgery and can be done by anyone regardless of age.

Organs that can be donated includes heart,intestines,kidney,lungs,liver and pancreas.These are procured from a brain dead donor or donor where the family has consent for donation after cardiac death.Tissues that can be procured are bones,tendons,corneas,heart valves,veins and many more. These tissues are procured only after the donor is dead.Organs that can be donated from a living donor include part of liver or pancreas and one of a pair of kidney.

Before organ transplantation is carried out usually the health condition of the donor and the recipient is taken into consideration. This is bacause an organ transplant requires immune supression, it is important that the organ is not infected with any kind of disease that could harm the recipient. Donors with any infection or disease still can donate their organs for research or education purposses but not to a living individual. Therefore anyone who wants to donate their organ but are suffering from certain kind of disease don't have to worry much because if they still intend to donate their organ, they can contribute their organs for other beneficial purposses.

In this 21st century eventough our country has all the latest technology equipments and methods used for surgery, there are still people who are worried to donate their organs because they are not confident enough to do so. Everyone should realize that organ donation is something good because we are voluenteering ourselves to help needy people. If one is not confident enough, they can register themselves to donate their organs once they are dead.

Other than that, the reason why people are not donating their organs is that they are not aware about organ donation. To improve this situation government should be responsible to conduct campaigns in order to create awareness among the public.

Lastly before I end, I would like to say there is no any religion against organ donation, so please donate your organs to the needies. All of us know that once we are dead our organs are no more usefull to us, so we should have the mentality that let the organs be usefull to others and don't be selfish.Thus don't hesitate to donate your organs and register now to donate your organs.
