Organ Donation

by Yeo Wee Kwong

Organ donation is the abstraction of the tissues from the person who has already died, or from a living donor. For such donation, the organ tissues are taken out from the body by the way same as surgery. There is no restriction of age for tissue and organ donors. . The Heart, lungs, liver, pancreas, kidneys, eyes, heart valves, skin, bones, bone marrow, connective tissues, middle ear, and blood vessels are the major organs and tissues that can be donated.

Is everyone agreeing with organ donation? Well, this is controversial enough and varies of opinions come to the discussion on the pros and cons of the organ donation to the donors as well as the organ recipient.

Firstly, let’s discuss about the benefits of organ donation. Definitely, it gives the golden opportunities for you to save someone’s life. In other words, organ donation gives another chance at life to people who would otherwise die. Any person can give a new life to at least five individuals. Your eyes can give valuable sight to two individuals. Likewise, your organs too, can breathe life into others. Besides, it is amongst few acts for which people can remember you for your merciful behavior for entire life. Organ donation is a beautiful bequest that we can make happen. Since eyes can continue seeing and heart can continue beating, but someone could die without them.

Usually, a successful organ donation and transplantation will not affect the donor’s life, and usually donors live normal lives as they were leading earlier after recovery. For example, people who donate their kidney will not find any problems in their daily routine. However, there is always a chance of complications for the donor and the recipient as well. Although the medical practices and skills are advance nowadays, a person may face the risk of death as the one is being treated in the surgery room.

As a conclusion, as the time goes on, the process of surgery is highly successful nowadays. Organ donation is not compulsory for everyone whether they are still alive or are dead. However, through organ donation, one may feel pretty good and happy to help someone who needs it more than you might and free from the suffering.
